Water Features and Ponds

Fountains, waterfalls, streams and naturalistic ponds that add sound, movement and wildlife to the yard.

Water brings a landscape alive. The sound masks street noise, the movement catches light and a pond attracts birds, frogs and dragonflies. A well-built water feature feels like it has always been there.

We build pondless waterfalls, naturalistic ponds, streams, bubbling boulders, wall fountains and formal basins. Each system includes the liner, pump, plumbing, filtration and power, hidden so the water and stone take center stage.

Pond or pondless

A pond holds a pool of water and can host fish and plants but needs more maintenance. A pondless waterfall recirculates water from a hidden basin, which is simpler, safer and easier to keep clean.

Liner, pump and filtration

A quality liner, an appropriately sized pump and filtration decide whether the water stays clear. We size equipment to the volume and head, use skimmers and biofalls and include accessible access panels for maintenance.

Placing it well

Water features work best where they can be seen and heard from the patio or windows. We place them away from heavy leaf fall and tree roots, and plan electrical and fill lines before we dig.

Seasonal care

Water features need a little attention through the year. Spring startup, summer topping up, fall leaf netting and winter checks keep them working. We provide a care sheet and are available for service or questions.

Questions

Water Features FAQ

Is a pond hard to maintain?

A well-designed pond needs periodic cleaning and seasonal care. Pondless waterfalls need less work.

Can I keep fish?

Yes, with a properly sized, filtered pond and adequate depth. We advise on stocking.

Will a water feature attract mosquitoes?

Moving water discourages mosquitoes. Still pools can attract them, so circulation and balance help.

Does a water feature need power?

Yes, for the pump and lights. We install GFCI-protected power and conceal the equipment.

Do water features run all winter?

Many can, with care. Some owners shut them down for the coldest weeks. We explain the options for your system.
