Landscape Design

A measured plan for your property that pairs hardscape, planting, lighting and drainage into a design you can build in phases.

Good landscapes are designed before they are planted. A plan works out where people walk, where water goes, which plants get which sun and how the hard surfaces and the living ones relate. Skipping the plan usually means doing the work twice.

We start with a measured site survey and a talk about how you live. We then develop a design with hardscape, planting beds, lighting, drainage and sequencing, and present it with materials, plant lists and phases, so you can build it all at once or over several seasons.

Survey and conversation

We measure the lot, note sun and shade, soil, slopes, utilities and views and talk through priorities. A good plan answers specific needs: privacy, entertaining, kids, pets, a garden or low maintenance.

Plans you can use

You receive a scaled plan showing hardscape, beds, trees, lighting and drainage, with material and plant selections. Many clients phase construction, and a master plan makes sure each phase fits the next.

Plants for the site

We select plants for sun, soil, deer pressure, mature size and seasonal interest in Middle Tennessee. Good design uses layers: trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses and groundcover, arranged so the garden looks good all year.

Reading the plan

A landscape plan should be understandable. We walk through each element with you, show how it fits the lot and explain how it will look in year one and year ten. Good plans invite questions and adjustments before any ground is broken.

Questions

Landscape Design FAQ

Do I need a landscape design before installation?

It is strongly recommended. Even a simple plan prevents mistakes with drainage, plant placement and sequencing.

Can you design and build?

Yes. Design and construction under one roof keeps the design buildable and avoids hand-offs.

Can I use the plan to build in phases?

Yes. Phasing is common, and a master plan keeps early work compatible with later work.

How long does design take?

A typical residential design takes a few weeks including revisions.

Can the design be changed during construction?

Small changes are usually easy. Larger changes can affect schedule and cost, and we discuss them honestly.
