Paver Patios

Interlocking concrete pavers in patterns, colors and textures that stay flat, drain through the joints and repair easily.

Interlocking concrete pavers are the workhorse of residential hardscape. They come in dozens of colors and textures, they handle freeze-thaw cycles well and, because each unit is separate, they can be lifted and reset if a utility line is ever dug up beside the patio.

We install paver patios in classic running bond, herringbone, basket weave and custom patterns with contrasting borders and inlays. Each patio rests on a compacted base, locked in by edge restraints and sealed at the joints with polymeric sand so the surface acts as one flexible, durable pavement.

Pattern and color

Herringbone is strongest and best for vehicle traffic, running bond is simple and economical, and basket weave looks classic on a smaller patio. A contrasting border or banding course frames the field. We bring samples to your yard so you can judge color in your own light.

Why the joints matter

Polymeric sand swept into the joints hardens slightly, resists washout and discourages weeds and ants. Joint width, sand quality and a final compaction pass decide how the patio looks in year five.

Repair and change

One of the big advantages of pavers is that a stained or settled section can be lifted, the base corrected and the same pavers reset. A concrete slab cannot do that. Save a few spare pavers from your install for future repairs.

Choosing a color

Paver color reads differently in sun and shade, wet and dry and beside brick or siding. We bring full-size samples to your yard and set them beside the house so you can decide in your own light. Blends of two or three tones hide dirt and fading better than a single flat color.

Questions

Paver Patios FAQ

Are pavers better than poured concrete?

They are more flexible, more repairable and available in more styles. Poured concrete costs less up front for plain slabs but cracks and cannot be patched invisibly. See our paver versus concrete guide.

Do pavers get slippery?

Textured pavers are comfortable and grippy underfoot. Smooth, polished surfaces can be slick when wet, so we recommend textured finishes near pools and steps.

Will weeds grow between the pavers?

Polymeric sand and a clean base minimize it. Occasional seeds can still sprout in joints, and a quick sweep or spot treatment handles it.

How long does a paver patio last?

With a proper base, decades. The pavers themselves are very durable. Longevity depends almost entirely on the preparation underneath.

Do pavers fade?

Quality pavers hold color well, though all concrete lightens slightly with sun and weather. Sealing can slow and soften the change.
